  • Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision Nursing Officer - 2 Positions (KALISIZO)

    General Position Summary

    This position will be required to assist the clinical officer when carrying out circumcision and provide qualitynursing care to clients coming for circumcision. He/She will also support VMMC related training and musttreat each client with dignity and respect.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Assist clinical officers in carrying out circumcisions
    • Client mobilization and provision of health education and timely management of AdverseEvents
    • Provide nursing care to clients attending the clinic
    • Assess clinical patient problems and triages patient under the advice of a clinician
    • Cleaning, disinfecting and packing surgical instruments
    • Training and re-training of program staff and health service providers during Male Circumcision (MC)skills training
    • Maintain infection control measures in operatingroom theatre
    • Administer Tetanus Toxoid and Diphtheria (TD)vaccination to VMMC clients
    • Maintain records according to mandatory legalrequirements ensuring that confidentiality is alwaysmaintained
    • To treat each client with dignity, respect andunderstanding.
    • Sterilizing instruments and storing sterilizedinstruments properly.
    • Provision of health education or post-operativecare to clients.
    • Seeking informed consent from potential clientsfor circumcision
    • Ensure procedures are carried out safely inaccordance with agreed policies
    • Handling and accounting for circumcisionfinances and logistics.
    • Over site leadership of VMMC activities at thesite or camp.
    • Ensuring security and proper utilization oflogistics according to inventory lists
    • Any duties as may reasonably be assigned fromtime to time

    Knowledge and Experience

    • Diploma in Nursing or equivalent from a recognized education institution.
    • Minimum of 2 years work experience in a clinical setting
    • Experience of working in a theatre setting is an added advantage
    • Ability to effectively communicate with patients
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in ateam.
    • Knowledge of good nursing procedures andpractices.
    • Certificate in Male Circumcision skills trainingwill be an added advantage
    • Willingness to work extra hours
    • Must be willing to work in rural settings

  • Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision Instrument Nurse - 1 Position (KALISIZO)

    General Position Summary

    This position will be required to prepare, pack, sterilizeinstruments and store properly. He/ She will distribute the re-usable instruments and consumables to both static site and mobile camps in the field. He/ She willmanage site or camp VMMC instruments and autoclaves in the districts. He/ She will also manage theatre logistics and equipment related tosterilization/instrument processing.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Over site supervision of instrument processing, storage, security and distribution of the instruments/equipment and consumables to VMMC static and camp sites.
    • Receiving, counting, cleaning, disinfecting and packing surgical instruments for sterilization.
    • Sterilizing instruments and storing sterilized instruments properly.
    • Handling and accounting for circumcision kits and consumables/logistics.
    • Report missing or damaged instruments to Theatre Supervisor.
    • Ensuring infection control measures in operating room theatre and surgery is done in accordance to SOP
    • Ensuring security and proper utilization of logistics according to inventory lists
    • Provide nursing care to clients attending the clinic
    • Ensuring proper sterilization data management at VMMC sites: Filing of sterilization documents, Reports
    • Maintain records according to mandatory legal requirements ensuring that confidentiality is always maintained
    • Ensure procedures are carried out safely in accordance with agreed policies
    • Assistant Surgeons/circumcisers in carrying out circumcisions/surgical operations.
    • Promoting and ensuring continuous quality improvement (CQI) in the delivery of MC services
    • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor

    • Certificate in Nursing or equivalent from a recognized education institution.
    • Minimum of 2 years work experience in a clinical setting
    • Experience of working in a theatre setting is an added advantage

  • Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision Clinical Officer – 2 Positions (KALISIZO)

    General Position Summary

    The position holder will be supervising circumcision activities at static site and mobile camps in the field. This person will manage site or camp staff during implementation of VMMC activities. He /she will work with the VHTs/mobilisers in the community for client mobilization and MOH staff to ensure that implementation of the VMMC program in the districts is efficiently executed. He /she will also manage logistics and camp finances in the VMMC operation areas.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Over site leadership of VMMC activities at the site or camp
    • Client mobilization and provision of health education and timely management of Adverse Events
    • Offering circumcision to clients and management of follow up.
    • Handling and accounting for circumcision finances and logistics.
    • Ensuring security and proper utilization of logistics according to inventory lists
    • Ensuring proper consenting processes; parents or legal guardians consenting for minors and client consenting.
    • Ensuring proper client screening is done including client age 10 years above.
    • Conducting SMC activities at both static and in the field and ensuring staff adhere to SOP/policies
    • Promoting and ensuring continuous quality improvement (CQI) in the delivery of MC services
    • Adhering to community entry process and working with stake holders within the district (DHO, Health facility I/C, security organs, religious leaders, institution leaders and VHTs)
    • Prompt submission of reports using the standard reporting forms by end of every activity or Month.
    • Ensuring camp site staff are available and practicing professionalism.
    • Ensuring infection control and surgery is done in accordance to SOP
    • Ensuring proper data management at VMMC sites: Filing of AEs, Reports, Client cards
    • Willingness to work extra hours

    Qualification, Skills and Experience

    • Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Community Health or equivalent.
    • Must be registered with the Allied Health professionals’ Council
    • At least 2 years’ experience in providing VMMC services
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team.
    • Certificate in Male Circumcision skills training will be an added advantage
    • Ability to ride is an added advantage
    • Must be willing to work in rural settings

  • District Quality Improvement Officer - 1 Position (KALISIZO)

    General Position Summary

    To support the Functions of the CQI and Quality assurance as guided by the PEPFAR, MOH National quality Improvement Framework and the RHSP CQI implementation Plan.

    The DQI officer will work with the CQI regional Manager, the district structures and other program area officers under the direct supervision of the Cluster coordinator operationally and technically the regional Manager, to ensure that overall implementation of the CQI initiatives in the district is efficiently executed

    Essential Job Functions

    • To ensure presence of functional QI teams at district, health sub-district and facility levels.
    • To provide and support the DHT in training and mentorship of staff on service guidelines and standard operating procedures.
    • To support the DHT to conduct regular data use meetings at the health facility level.
    • To support the district teams to conduct regular performance reviews and learning sessions.
    • To participate and regularly monitor progress of quality improvement projects at health facilities, maintain the QI data base and compile reports on best practices learnt from them.
    • To support regular reporting for quality improvement initiatives.
    • To implement the continuous quality improvement initiatives in line with the National QIF 2015/2016 - 2019/2020.
    • To support the districts, write abstracts for conference and success stories.
    • Any other duties that may be assigned by either the supervisor

    Qualification, Skills and Experience

    • The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Nursing and Clinical medicine
    • Knowledge of Ministry of Health and Local Government Structures.
    • Knowledge of DHIS 2 and PEPFAR MER2.3 indicators
    • Minimum of 2 years Quality Improvement work experience in a busy health setting with a major role of preparing activity reports and accountabilities.
    • Willingness to work in rural areas and execute work with minimal or no supervision and remain accountable.

    General Position Summary

    The OVC officer will oversee the day-to-dayimplementation of OVC activities in liaison withthe district, facility and community structures.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Oversee screening and enrolment ofvulnerable children into the OVC programbased on the vulnerability index
    • Support functionality of OVC coordinationstructures at district and sub-district levels
    • Lead capacity building initiatives amongOVC service providers at various levels
    • Support initiatives aimed at increasing OVCaccess to education and life skills.
    • Build systems to ensure effective referraland linkages for OVCs to communitysupport structures
    • Deliver economic strengthening initiatives tothe critically vulnerable OVC households

    Qualification, Skills and Experience

    • The ideal candidate should hold abachelor’s degree in Social Work andSocial Administration, social sciences,Development Studies or any otherHumanities related fields
    • At least 2 years’ recent experienceimplementing OVC programs
    • Excellent computer skills are desirable.
    • Willingness to travel and work in hard-toreach areas
    • Ability to ride a motorcycle with a validriding permit
