  • Laboratory Technologist -1 Position (KALISIZO)

    General Position Summary

    The Laboratory Technologist will be involved in all Laboratory procedures in the RHSP Laboratory at Kalisizo Station. He/ She will be required to conform to Good Clinical Laboratory Practices (GCLP) guidelines. The RHSP laboratory does automated and/or manual assays in the fields of chemistry, molecular biology, flowcytometry, hematology, microbiology and serology.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Perform analytical work for both research and clinical management purposes.
    • Receipt and processing of samples including long term archival.
    • Do preventive and scheduled maintenance of equipment
    • Collection of different types of samples including phlebotomy
    • Write Standard Operating Procedures
    • Manage laboratory logistics
    • Any other official duty as may be assigned by management

    Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

    • A Bachelor’s in Biomedical laboratory technology or related courses from a recognized institution.
    • At least 2 years of experience in a clinical/research multi-disciplinary laboratory.
    • Training in SLMTA, Biosafety and Laboratory Quality Management System is an added advantage.
    • Demonstrate skills in professional code of conduct and ethics.
    • Self-motivated and able to work under minimum supervision.
    • Pleasant, social, hardworking, flexible, with a spirit of team work/building.

  • Data Volunteer Clerks - 42 Positions (Kyotera, Masaka, Rakai, Lwengo, Bukomansimbi, Lyantonde, Butambala, Kalangala, Mpigi, Sembabule, Kalungu)

    General Position Summary

    Data Volunteer will support PEPFAR reporting processes at health facilities on a Weekly, Monthly, Semiannual and Annual basis.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Collection of weekly-SURGE, monthly, quarterly, semiannual and annual PEPFAR specific data from source registers.
    • Support timely and accurate data entry into the Uganda EMR or any designated electronic capture system at the frontline health facilities
    • Support back up processes for all the electronic data entered in Uganda EMR.
    • Support data capture, documentation and Update of HIV registers (MCH/EID registers, PRE-ART register, ART registers, and HTC registers.
    • Perform Data validation for PEPFAR monthly reports (HTS & PMTCT) and HMIS105 reports and Quarterly Reports (HMIS 106a).

    Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

    • A minimum of Advanced Level Certificate or Any Equivalent.
    • Experience in HMIS and PEPFAR reporting processes.
    • Data Entry Experience – Uganda EMR preferably.
    • Ability to work in rural setting/ health facilities assigned or support any other at discretion of immediate supervisor.
    • Self-motivated and able to work under minimum supervision.

  • Volunteer Laboratory Technician - 2 Positions (MASAKA REGIONAL REFERAL HOSPITAL)

    General Position Summary

    The Laboratory Technician will conduct generalized laboratory investigations for disease diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Analyzing and interpreting laboratory test results and submit reports;
    • Liaising with Ward management in the preparation of patients for Laboratory tests;
    • Advising Clinical Staff in collection, handling and transportation of specimens to the Laboratory;
    • Requisitioning and accounting for laboratory materials and sundries;
    • Maintaining an inventory of the laboratory equipment and ensure their functionality;
    • Enforcing safety and quality control measures in the laboratory;
    • Participating in primary health care activities;
    • Compiling, analyzing and preparing performance reports for submission to relevant authorities.
    • Participating in establishing and maintenance of a robust Quality Management system including mentorships
    • Carrying out research activities.

    Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

    • A minimum of a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Techniques from a recognized institution.
    • Must be registered and licensed with the Allied Health Professionals Council.
    • At least 2 years of experience in a clinical/research multi-disciplinary laboratory.
    • Training in SLMTA, Biosafety and Laboratory Quality Management System is an added advantage.
