  • Driver - 1 Position (KALISIZO)

    General Position Summary

    The Driver will drive Organization vehicles safely in accordance with Rakai Health Sciences Program requirements and with supervisor’s instructions to transport cargo and personnel and guests for official purposes in various locations where we operate and, as may be needed, throughout areas where Rakai Health Sciences Program operates within Uganda.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Operate official Cordaid vehicles to transport staff and cargo.
    • Ensure that vehicles are maintained and repaired from service providers on time. He will also maintain the vehicles clean as required.
    • Maintain vehicle logs that record each trip taken, odometer readings and time of departure and arrival for each trip. Each time that fuel is put in the vehicle, the driver will document on the mileage sheet the amount, odometer reading, and date obtained. Any maintenance must also be recorded.
    • Keep the supervisor abreast of any security situations or hazards and report timely to the Transport Coordinator any Security incidents or accidents that require security and safety measures. Standard procedures need to be followed when an accident occurs
    • The Driver will also deliver and pick-up messages and parcels. He will make purchases as may be requested.
    • Ensure that the vehicle is equipped with the required tools and equipment such as the fire extinguisher, wheel change kit, spare wheel and the first aid kit.
    • Submit the inspection report on a weekly basis and/or after every handover of the vehicles to another party, and report any maintenance problems that may require attention
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

    Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

    • The ideal candidate for the Driver vacancy should have a minimum of O level certificate.
    • A minimum of two years of professional chauffeur experience and a valid local driver's license for following types of vehicles is highly preferred. Classes: B (motor cars), CM (medium commercial), DL (light omnibus).
    • Knowledge and ability: Must be familiar with local traffic laws and area traffic patterns is required.
    • Duties require the ability to deal with officials and guests in a relaxed but competent and professional manner.
    • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of staff, Implementing partners, beneficiaries.
    • Language Proficiency: Ability to speak, read, and write in English fluently.

  • Legal Officer -1 Position (KALISIZO)

    General Position Summary

    The incumbent will play a leading role in both long-term strategic planning processes as well as in short-term project planning. The Legal Officer will provide key legal expertise, including offering legal guidance to various sections in RHSP, Policy development and standard-setting and monitoring new developments. He/ she will Forge strong partnerships and collaboration with local governmental and non-governmental organizations.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Provide legal advice on regulatory and legal matters for RHSP operations and innovations
    • Review and draft major contracts as well as develop templates and standard commercial agreements across our different geographical and operational areas of work
    • Support contract negotiation and collaborate with business teams on developing effective relationships with contractors and vendors
    • Perform due diligence and risk assessment on all major transactions
    • Maintain and manage relationships with outside counsel, vendors, and other organizational partners
    • Support our internal investigations team as needed.
    • Advise human resources teams on employment law requirements
    • Advise on and institute systems for external compliance
    • Develop internal policies and standard operating procedures for managing legal and operational risk across different areas of business and operations
    • Assist with general legal tasks as needed to meet departmental and organizational priorities
    • Undertake such other reasonable tasks as may be assigned by the Finance & Administration Director

    Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

    • Law degree from a top university, PGD Legal Practice.
    • Must be an enrolled advocate of High Court of UG with Valid practicing certificate
    • 2 years of legal work experience preferably as an associate/partner with an in-house legal team or international law firm
    • High degree of professional flexibility and ability to coordinate many unrelated projects at the same time. You need to be very comfortable working across all areas where RHSP needs legal support and mixing those areas daily.
    • Highly professional and commercial approach to problem-solving. We operate as a business and need to facilitate transactions in a proactive and efficient manner.
    • Proven ability to manage complex transactional work in a corporate, non-profit or in-house practice setting.
    • A strong team work ethic and excellent people skills. We have a big team and are looking for someone to collaborate with to achieve our organizational goals.
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including both verbal and written communication. You need to be an excellent and concise writer who can explain complex legal issues to non-lawyers a quick and accurate manner.
    • A willingness to commit to living in Kalisizo with frequent travel to rural areas for at least two years this is a long-term, career-track position and a great opportunity to step in as a senior legal member of a quickly growing team.

  • Grants Officer - 1 Position (KALISIZO)

    General Position Summary

    This position holder will provide support to the Grants office in managing CBOs /CSOs in accounting works.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Effective management of CBOs/CSOs for statutory and donor compliance.
    • Ensure that all agreements and records, for CBOs/CSOs are well-maintained and updated.
    • Support the capacity building of CBOs/CSOs in proper grants reporting.
    • Conduct field monitoring visits to CBOs/CSOs together with the Regional CBO programs officer and CBO accountants.
    • Participate in CBO/CSO pre-award assessment activities.
    • Review CBO/CSO Budgets
    • Submit budgets and funds requisitions for CBOs in the share-point system.
    • Produce CBO/CSO monthly and quarterly reports in close collaboration with the Regional CBO Programs Officer and CBO Accountant.

    Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance / Accounting from reputable University.
    • Full professional qualification ACCA, CPA.
    • Evidence of excellent quantitative skills e.g. good grades in a mathematical field at O and A level
    • Managing grants or finances for Donor funds for at least 2 years.
    • Proficiency in using and Administration of Navision accounting software.
    • Knowledge of MS Excel, Word and other common financial software programs
    • Strong Leadership skills and ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.

  • Security Guard - 6 Positions (KALISIZO)

    General Position Summary

    The Security guard will always provide support to the head of security with tasks to ensure maximum security and compliance to the systems in RHSP as well as offer guidance and support to the team under supervision.

    Essential Job Functions

    • To guard program property, office premises and designated program residential places.
    • Maintain safety of the dogs and the staff during shift.
    • Ensure that no intruders / unauthorized persons trespass onto the office premises without permission
    • Overseeing the overall security of the Program Premises
    • Managing the duty and leave Rota of the security team
    • Arranging and facilitating in house security trainings
    • Advising Head of Security on matters of security
    • Ensuring proper use and custody of security gadgets given to the security team
    • Working with head of security to ensure discipline, appropriate deployment and performance security guards.
    • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Security.
    • Security briefing to head of security, as well as weekly reports on the same.
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

    Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

    • Candidate must possess a Minimum of Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) Certificate
    • Physically fit
    • Willingness to reside in Kalisizo, Kyotera
    • Willingness to work in shifts that stretch over the night and weekends according to schedule
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Good organizational and multi-tasking abilities
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and strong problem-solving skills
