Rakai Health Sciences Program (RHSP) is a collaborative bio - medical research and service delivery organization. RHSP strives to improve the quality of life of the local population through a combination of community-based research, curative services, and prevention strategies in the districts of South-central Uganda.
  • District Quality Improvement Officer - 01 Position
    Districts of Operation: Masaka & Bukomansimbi
    Duty Station: Kalisizo
    Reports To: Regional Manager CQI

    General Position Summary

    To support the Functions of the CQI and Quality assurance as guided by the PEPFAR, MOH National quality Improvement Framework and the RHSP CQI implementation Plan

    Jobs Responsibilities

    • To ensure presence of functional QI teams at district, health sub-district and facility levels.
    • To provide and support the District Health Teams (DHT) in training and mentorship of staff on service guidelines and standard operating procedures.
    • To support the DHT to conduct regular data use meetings at the health facility level.
    • To support the district teams to conduct regular performance reviews and learning sessions at facility, CSO and district level.
    • To implement the continuous quality improvement initiatives in line with the National QIF 2015/2016 -2019/2020
    • To participate and regularly monitor progress of quality improvement projects at health facilities, maintain the QI data base and compile reports on best practices learnt from them.
    • To support the districts, write abstracts for conference and success stories in any thematic areas under our support
    • To support regular reporting for quality improvement initiatives.
    • To support district/ facilities to achieve 95% of the target for the paediatric collaborative indicators, support regular data collection processes, reporting and entry into IP & National QI dashboard.
    • To support formation of psychosocial groups at facility and at district level to address retention & VL suppression gaps. Support reporting of PSS indicators in HMIs tools, Viral Load data using data collection tools and dashboards.
    • To support conducting of Root Cause Analysis for different program area gaps and put up interventions tailored to the actual cause.
    • Any other duties that may be assigned by either the supervisor

    Knowledge and Experience

    • University Degree in nursing or Diploma in Nursing and Clinical Medicine or comprehensive nursing.
    • Knowledge of Ministry of Health and Local Government Structures
    • Knowledge of DHIS 2 and PEPFAR MER2.3 indicators
    • Minimum of 2 years in Quality Improvement work experience in a busy health setting with a major role of preparing activity reports and accountabilities.
    • Willingness to work in rural areas and execute work with minimal or no supervision and remain accountable.
    • Demonstrable knowledge in statistical analysis, Data Management, Research & Quality Assurance.
    • Advanced Office package computer skills.
    • Ability to ride a Motorcycle.

  • Fleet Manager- 01 Position
    Duty Station: Kalisizo

    General Position Summary

    The Fleet Manager will oversee management of the RHSP fleet which includes motor vehicles, motorcycles, generators and boats so that operational needs are met, working in strict compliance with set standards.

    Jobs Responsibilities

    • Maintain electronic fleet management databases of mileage, mechanical condition and fuel usage.
    • Ensure fleet availability to meet all requests by scheduling, forecasting and surveying current user trends.
    • Maintain knowledge and utilize all fleet information and fleet tracking information to ensure effective and efficiency usage following RHSP policies.
    • Ensure appropriate registration, insurance, maintenance and updated documents for all fleet.
    • Maintain and monitor data management systems to ensure organized fleet requests; efficient scheduling and issuance; and fuel purchase and usage
    • Analyze fleet management data, prepare and submit regular fleet management reports
    • Develop and implement standard operational standards to maintain vehicles by advocating best practices in industry.
    • Prepare annual and quarterly budgets and subsequent expenditures for the Transport section
    • Ensure a motivated, mentored, and skilled team to manage the RHSP fleet

    Knowledge and Experience

    • A Bachelors degree in a Business management course e.g Transport & Logistics, Procurement, Business Administration, Project Management, Stores management etc.
    • Minimum of a credit in O’level Mathematics and English
    • At least 2 years’ experience in the fleet management.
    • Good planning, organizational and analytical skills
    • Sensitive to different personalities, characters and cultures.
    • Ability to lead field teams.
    • Good computer skills especially in MS Excel, Word & business databases such as Navision and any related fleet management information systems.
    • Driving skills with a valid driving permit
    • Working knowledge of vehicle mechanics
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Willingness to work in remote areas.

  • Stores Control Officer - 01 Position
    Duty Station: Kalisizo
    Reports To: Stores Manager

    General Position Summary

    The primary duties of the Stores controller officer are to assist and be part of the Stores and stock control team, stock processes and the general store warehouse practices.

    Jobs Responsibilities

    • To sort, pre-pack and label requested goods before dispatch
    • To dispatch goods to their respective users
    • To receive goods / supplies into the stores.
    • To post daily goods’ transactions both receipts and dispatches in the ERP system in real time.
    • Participate in routine stock taking and daily stock reconciliations
    • Be responsible for categorizing goods/ supplies neatly on to their respective ranks in the store/warehouse.
    • Inspect daily cleanliness and hygiene of the stores.
    • Daily inspection of drugs in the stores and look for damages spills and expires.
    • As will be instructed from time to time, among other things, provide periodic performance reports
    • Manage secondary packaging at the warehouse.
    • Execute all other duties as shall be assigned by supervisor, adhere to all RHSP policies, procedures and demonstrate high integrity.

    Knowledge and Experience

    • Bachelors’ degree in Stores management, Procurement and Logistics Management, and any other related qualifications.
    • A minimum of credit 6 in O’ level Mathematics and English
    • 2 - 3 years’ experience in stores handling.
    • Knowledge of managing pharmaceutical and health products.
    • Good knowledge of Excel and ERPs especially Navision will be an added advantage
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
    • Excellent track record in customer relations management
    • Computer literate with experience in the use of MS Office programs; and skills in stock management software for inventory management and reporting
    • The incumbent must possess excellent communication, team working, good interpersonal skills, and high level of integrity
