RHSP strives to improve the quality of life of the local population through a combination of community-based research, curative services, and prevention strategies in the districts of South-central Uganda.
  • Stores Controller Officer
    Position 01
    Duty Station: Kalisizo
    Reports to: Stores Manager

    General Position Summary

    The primary duties of the Stores controller officer are to assist and be part of the Stores and stock control team, stock processes and the general store warehouse practices.

    Jobs Responsibilities

    • To sort, pre-pack and label requested goods before dispatch
    • To dispatch goods to their respective users
    • To receive goods / supplies into the stores.
    • To post daily goods’ transactions both receipts and dispatches in the ERP system in real time.
    • Participate in routine stock taking and daily stock reconciliations.
    • Be responsible for categorizing goods/ supplies neatly on to their respective ranks in the store/warehouse.
    • Inspect daily cleanliness and hygiene of the stores.
    • Daily inspection of drugs in the stores and look for damages spills and expires.
    • As will be instructed from time to time, among other things, provide periodic performance reports.
    • Manage secondary packaging at the warehouse.
    • Execute all other duties as shall be assigned by supervisor, adhere to all RHSP policies, procedures and demonstrate high integrity

    Knowledge and Experience

    • Bachelors’ degree in Stores management, Procurement and Logistics Management, and any other related qualifications
    • A minimum of credit 6 in O’ level Mathematics and English.
    • 2 - 3 years’ experience in stores handling.
    • Knowledge of managing pharmaceutical and health products.
    • Good knowledge of Excel and ERPs especially Navision will be an added advantage.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Excellent track record in customer relations management.
    • Computer literate with experience in the use of MS Office programs; and skills in stock management software for inventory management and reporting.
    • The incumbent must possess excellent communication, team working, good interpersonal skills, and high level of integrity.

  • PrEP Officer
    Position 02
    Duty Station: Mpigi, Ssembabule

    General Position Summary

    The PrEP Officer will be responsible for coordinating all PrEP related activities in Mpigi and Kalungu districts

    Jobs Responsibilities

    • Plans, implements and monitors PrEP activities in the assigned district (s).
    • Plans and conducts training and on-site mentorships on PrEP service provision.
    • Provides technical guidance and support supervision to district, facility and CSO staff on PrEP activities.
    • Plan, organize and conduct community and facility PrEP awareness sessions to stakeholders and service recipients.
    • Budgets and accounts for all allocated resources.
    • Enters PrEP data into the tracker and relevant registers
    • Compile weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on all PrEP implemented activities and submit the report to supervisor.
    • Prepares workplans for the implementation of PrEP services in the respective districts
    • Delivers logistics to health facilities/DICEs that are required for the implementation of PrEP activities.
    • Provides counselling and follow-up support to PrEP clients.
    • Corroborate with the KP Prevention Officer for the proper integration of PrEP activities into the general KP/PP Prevention Program.
    • Any other duty assigned to his or her by supervisor from time to time.

    Knowledge and Experience

    • A Diploma in Clinical Medicine, Comprehensive Nursing or closely related field
    • At least 2 years’ experience in Key Population Implementation Programming
    • Good Communication Skills
    • Computer literate
    • Ability to ride long distances with valid riding permit (Class A) is a MUST.

  • HUB LAB SAMPLE TRANSPORTER
    Position 01
    Duty Station: Kalisizo, Kyotera

    General Position Summary

    The hub rider will ensure that Laboratory samples collected from health facilities are transported safely and in a timely manner to Rakai hub Lab. Additionally, the rider will transport printed sample results and other documentation as requested by the hub lab teams.

    Jobs Responsibilities

    • Follow daily and weekly schedule of visits to all health facilities supported by the hub.
    • Ensure timely collection of samples from referring facilities to the hub Laboratory and return of results to all facilities.
    • Ensure good condition of all equipment under his custody, including the safety and maintenance of the hub bike, safety gear, carrying box and bag.
    • Maintain comprehensive records of samples collected, results picked and delivered, bike maintenance/repairs and daily movements made.
    • Work with the hub coordinator and district laboratory focal person to ensure timely distribution of External Quality Assurance samples.
    • Ensure timely communication with hub coordinator and lab field officer in case of inability to move to the lower facilities.
    • Prepare and submit reports to the hub coordinator.
    • Make timely accountability for all program funds provided for fuel and any minor motorcycle repairs.
    • Always Keep a copy of valid riders’ permit.

    Knowledge and Experience

    • Should have a minimum of Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE).
    • Valid ridding license/ permit with a good record.
    • Minimum of one year riding experience as a sample transporter or related work.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
    • Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact productively and accurately with health workers.

  • Driver
    Position 02
    Duty Station: Kalisizo

    General Position Summary

    The Driver will drive Organization vehicles safely in accordance with Rakai Health Sciences Program requirements and with supervisor’s instructions to transport cargo and personnel and guests for official purposes in various locations where we operate and, as may be needed, throughout areas where Rakai Health Sciences Program operates within Uganda.

    Jobs Responsibilities

    • Operate official Cordaid vehicles to transport staff and cargo.
    • Ensure that vehicles are well maintained and serviced in a timely manner, including maintaining the vehicles as clean as required.
    • Maintain a proper vehicle log for all trips along with the relevant vehicle maintenance logs.
    • Keep the supervisor abreast of any security situations or hazards and report timely to the supervisor any security incidents or accidents that require appropriate measures
    • Adherence to organizational fleet guidelines and all national traffic laws
    • The driver will pick-up and deliver organizational messages and parcels with confidentiality as may be requested
    • Ensure that the vehicle is equipped with all relevant safety tools, including but not limited to the fire extinguisher, wheel change kit, spare wheel and the first aid kit.
    • Perform and submit vehicle inspection reports on a weekly basis and/or before handover of the vehicle to another party, and report any maintenance problems that may require attention
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

    Knowledge and Experience

    • The ideal candidate for the Driver vacancy should have a minimum of O level certificate.
    • A minimum of two years of professional chauffeur experience and a valid local driver's license for following types of vehicles is highly preferred. Classes: B, CM, DL.
    • Knowledge and ability: Must be familiar with local traffic laws and traffic patterns.
    • Ability to communicate with officials and guests in a relaxed but competent and professional manner.
    • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of staff, implementing partners and beneficiaries.
    • Language Proficiency: Ability to speak, read, and write in English fluently.

  • Dreams & OVC Social Worker
    Position 02
    Duty Station: Masaka, Kyotera

    General Position Summary

    To support the implementation of Gender based violence prevention and child protection activities within the respective district as guided by PEPFAR. The Project Social Worker will work with the District OVC-DREAMS officer, district data officer and other community structures to ensure quality delivery of DREAMS and OVC services in the respective districts. He/She will lead the implementation of GBV response program activities and processes that will facilitate linkage between and within communities and health facilities.

    Jobs Responsibilities

    • Ensure all case management processes are implemented within the set program Standard Operating Procedures, PEPFAR and MGLSD OVC guidance for effective, quality, and high impact programming
    • Support Para Social Workers to enroll and assess program eligible beneficiaries following the PEPFAR and MGLSD OVC beneficiary identification and case management procedures.
    • Ensure proper application and storage of program case management tools to facilitate effective and systematic case management from enrolment through beneficiary graduation.
    • Works with the data officer and data entrants to ensure that data is properly entered in the UDOTS and OVCMIS.
    • Lead person to regularly monitor and track implementation of household improvement and individual OVC case plans.
    • Offer timely technical assistance to Para Social Workers on OVC HIV case identification, linkages to care and Treatment as well as Retention and adherence strategies.
    • Works closely with Linkage Coordinators for the maintenance of effective and functional communityfacility services referral networks.
    • Works with Facility staff to conduct monthly case conference meetings with Para Social Workers to review and assess progress on implementation of OVC case plans and performance of HIV/AIDS referrals from community to facility and facility to community.
    • Leads person in ensuring that beneficiaries receive appropriate services package layering.
    • Ensures VAC survivors receive the necessary support services including legal, medical, social and others working with the relevant government & nongovernment authorities/service providers

    Knowledge and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Social Administration, or Related humanities field
    • Training in Child Protection, and VAC
    • Experience with DREAMS & OVC programming is an added advantage
    • Working knowledge with the Uganda DREAMS & OVC Tracking System (UDOTS), OVCMIS is an added advantage
    • Good communication and presentation skills
    • Ability to work in a rural and multi-cultural environment especially at sub county level
    • Certificate in counseling is an added advantage
    • Ability to work under minimum supervision
    • Ability to ride a motorcycle and possession of a valid riding permit.
