District Led Programming (DLP)

Rakai is among the five districts in the country with the highest HIV incidence and burden. This is majorly attributed to the many landing sites within the district and the existence of Uganda-Tanzania boarder. Over 35000 HIV positive patients have been enrolled into care since 2004.

Starting 2013, RHSP became the HIV implementing partner for Rakai district. The district health team in conjunction with RHSP takes a led in the programming of HIV prevention, care and treatment

RHSP as an implementing partner is tasked with technical, logistical and financial support as well as capacity building for the district staff working with ART clinics in the different health facilities through ongoing mentorships, monitoring & evaluation, trainings and continuous medical education.

In total, there are 35 health facilities, both private and Government owned, providing HIV care and treatment services
