Background of HIV Care Services
RHSP aims at providing high quality comprehensive HIV services that meet national and international standards to all clients receiving care and treatment.
We started provision of antiretroviral therapy (ART), in April 2004 with only one clinic and 11 outreaches within Rakai district. As of now, more than 35 clinics have been established and only 3 outreaches have been maintained.
The mother clinic (RHSP-Kalisizo clinic) acts as a model clinic for the district with different specialized services and highly skilled personnel providing supervision, mentorship, monitoring & evaluation to other clinics.
All this is funded by the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

Serving over 2,300 Patients
This started providing comprehensive HIV care and treatment in April 2004 with 206 patients. As of now, it extends services to over 2300 patients that receive cotrimoxizole prophylaxis and ART refills as well as CD4 cell and viral load monitoring.
The clinic manned by a multidisciplinary team of experienced doctors, clinical officers and nurses, this serves as a referral centre for other clinics in the district.

- Daily HIV counseling and testing
- Adult HIV care and treatment
- Adolescent friendly services
- Pediatric HIV care and treatment
- Elimination of mother to child HIV transmission(EMTCT)
- TB screening, diagnosis and treatment
- Family planning and cervical cancer screening
- Specialized laboratory services
- Daily specialized consultation
- Sexually transmitted Infection (STI) clinic.
